ASV PT-60 Rubber Track Loader Offers Faster Operation, More Performance and Improved Durability
Grand Rapids, MN (April 2, 2008) - A.S.V., Inc. has recently unveiled the first of the new PT-Series Compact Track Loaders – the PT-60. The PT-60 Compact Track Loader is a mid-sized 60-horsepower (44.7 kW) loader that runs on ASV’s patented rubber track undercarriage. It is a quick and powerful loader that gives exceptional performance in a wide range of ground conditions – including wet, soft or slippery conditions where other equipment cannot work at all.
The PT-60 replaces ASV’s former RC-60 Compact Track Loader that was introduced in 2004 as a better alternative to skid steer loaders. Since that time, thousands of former skid steer owners now prefer the performance advantages of ASV’s unique compact track loaders.
The new PT-60 builds on the success of the former model by offering even greater performance. The new machine now includes a high-performance two-speed drive system that offers the choice of higher torque for digging in tough materials or higher top-end travel speed. In high speed, the PT-60 offers exceptional performance making it the ideal loader for any operation that seeks faster cycle times and maximum productivity.
In low speed, the PT-60 can travel up to six mph (10 kph); in high speed, the PT-60 runs as fast as 11 mph (17.7 kph). Only ASV’s largest, most powerful compact track loader, the PT-100, is rated faster with an 11.5 mph (18.5 kph) maximum speed.
Complementing the PT-60’s fast travel speed is ASV’s unique undercarriage suspension system. It is a patented system using rugged torsion axles to maximize the machine’s contact with the ground - even when traveling over objects or rough terrain. This gives the PT-60 exceptional traction and performance that has been the trademark of the Minnesota-based company’s equipment for more than 25 years.
The PT-60 uses 24 wheels in its undercarriage to spread the machine’s weight over the entire length and width of its tracks. As a result, the machine’s 6,350 lb (2880 kg) operating weight is distributed down to only 3.6 pounds per square inch (21.8 kPa) of ground pressure. That is less ground pressure than that of a person on foot. With such low ground pressure, the PT-60 can work productively in soft or wet ground conditions where skid steer loaders and other track loaders cannot work at all. That makes the PT-60 the perfect machine for contractors and companies that need to be productive all year around regardless of weather and ground conditions.
Extremely low ground pressure also makes the PT-60 the best machine for work on environmentally sensitive surfaces such as landscaping, golf courses and wherever fragile underground systems need to be protected. By using the PT-60, contractors can prevent costly ground damage that often occurs when using wheeled or other tracked machines over yards and turf.
With the PT-60, ASV also introduces some new, exclusive track options. The machine’s standard track is a 15-inch (381 mm)-wide general purpose track with moderate treads for optimum operation and traction in the widest range of ground conditions. A special smooth Turf Track is also available, like that on the former RC-60 Turf Edition machines. The Turf Track offers exceptionally low-impact performance when on the most sensitive or fragile surfaces and is the ideal choice for landscape or golf course contractors. For use in very wet or snowy conditions, when extra traction is needed, the new Extreme Terrain Track is now available. This new track is 16.5-inches (419 mm) wide so it offers even more flotation than the standard track. In addition, it offers extra deep treads for self-cleaning and added traction over the worst ground conditions.
The PT-60 is even more durable than the former RC-60. A new heavy-gauge steel hood now protects the engine compartment. Steel mesh panels on top and the rear of the hood provide ample airflow to the machine’s turbocharged diesel engine and cooling system.
Undercarriage enhancements also give the PT-60 better durability. Included are new steel rear idler wheels that readily shed dirt and foreign materials while providing longer service life. Other wheels in the PT-60 are rubber-coated to maximize the cushion and protection of the rubber tracks. In addition, idler wheel bearings now use premium metal face seals. These seals provide longer, more reliable protection of wheel bearings for years of trouble-free operation.
With a slightly wider stance than the former model, the PT-60 is even more maneuverable resulting in noticeably faster and easier ability to turn than the earlier model. Even at its new 66-inch (1676 mm) overall width, the PT-60 is still one of the most narrow and maneuverable machines in its class. Compact size and turning ability make the PT-60 superior in applications where wider compact track loaders and skids steers cannot manage.
Other refinements to the PT-60 include better upward visibility from the operator station, a new dash panel with more gauges, plus a completely new paint and decal package that includes ASV’s bold new logo. The PT-60 is one of ASV’s comprehensive line of new PT Series Compact Track Loaders available through its network of ASV dealerships throughout North America. ASV also has dealerships in Australia and New Zealand. To locate the ASV dealer nearest you, visit http://www.asvi.com/.
