Posi-Track 4810 Leads Industry in Power, Profitability
Machine will be Flagship of ASV/Caterpillar Rubber-Tracked Equipment
GRAND RAPIDS, MN (Feb. 27, 2001) –- ASV's Posi-Track 4810 All Purpose Crawler is in a position of leadership that few pieces of equipment in this business ever benefit from. With the anticipated introduction of Caterpillar's new rubber-tracked Multi Terrain Loaders coming this Spring (2001), the ASV 4810 will become more than just one of the most efficient and profitable compact construction machines in the industry – it will be the flagship of an emerging allied product line that gives contractors a greater ability to excel on nearly any job site in nearly any environment.
"Since we introduced the 4810 in 1999, it has fast become the machine savvy contractors turn to when they face difficult ground conditions," said Don Powell, ASV Sales Director. "And soon, the 4810 will be the most powerful in a new line of equipment that we expect to significantly impact the compact construction industry."
In October of 2000, Caterpillar and ASV (a Caterpillar affiliate) agreed to build five new models of compact rubber-tracked loaders utilizing ASV's Maximum Traction and Support SystemTM undercarriage. This unique innovation gives machines increased traction, digging and climbing power on conventional job-sites, as well as the high flotation necessary to work on sensitive or difficult terrain.
Since its inception, the 4810 has allowed contractors to work in ground conditions that have stalled virtually all other kinds of equipment. That ability to work – regardless of conditions – has saved contractors hundreds of thousands of dollars and has made progress possible when all other avenues have failed.
"When ASV and Caterpillar announced last year that we would be jointly developing a new line of Caterpillar rubber-tracked Multi-Terrain Loaders, we heard that some contractors were fearful that ASV would end production of the 4810," said ASV's Powell. "We predict just the opposite. With the powerful Caterpillar organization behind the introduction of these new Cat Multi Terrain Loaders, we expect the market for our 4810 to grow as more users are exposed to this fantastic and enabling technology."
The 4810 will continue to be the leading machine for contractors who need maximum power, traction and versatility available in compact rubber-tracked equipment. With a Caterpillar 3054T engine delivering 105 hp/78 kW, the Posi-Track 4810 has the power to handle a massive amount of work in the broadest range of conditions. And, unlike virtually any other machine out there, it comes already equipped for work with both low (19 gpm/72 Lpm) flow and high (30 gpm/114 Lpm) flow hydraulic work tools. It is also one of the only rubber-track machines designed to accept frame-mount work tools such as a 6-way dozer blade or a three-point hitch and PTO for pulling implements.
"The 4810 will continue to be branded an ASV Posi-Track, while the new Multi-Terrain Loaders will be Caterpillar branded," said Powell. "However, contractors should view the 4810 and the new Multi-Terrain Loaders as part of the same family of equipment, with many of the same attributes and the same high-quality support."
The development of the 4810 is the result of ASV's unmatched expertise and innovation in rubber-tracked undercarriages that drive machinery more efficiently and more powerfully. Its patent-pending MTSS undercarriage incorporates 48-wheeled contact points that efficiently transfer the weight of the machine to the ground. As a result, the 4810 operates with traction not found in other machines, and with a ground pressure of 3 lbs per square inch. This means when it's not digging and moving dirt on a construction site, it can work over sensitive terrain such as sod without doing harm. That, in itself, can help save thousands in ground repair costs when working over landscaped surfaces.
ASV designs, manufactures and sells All Purpose Crawlers, All Surface Loaders and related accessories and attachments. The Posi-Track 4810 is available through most North American Caterpillar Dealers, some Latin American Caterpillar Dealers and some independent ASV dealers.
